Important Reminder: Magnetic properties-rather than mechanical properties-constitute the primary basis for acceptance testing. We provide actual test reports detailing the measured magnetic properties; typically, these tests are conducted in accordance with ASTM A596 or A773 standards. If a supplier states, "We guarantee only the chemical composition, not the magnetic properties," we strongly advise exercising extreme caution before purchasing such materials.

Processing Guidance & Core Technical Notes

The excellent soft magnetic performance of HyMu 80 is not inherent. All magnetic permeability and low-loss characteristics are completely activated and optimized through professional precision heat treatment. Mechanical processing deformation and residual stress will destroy the internal magnetic domain structure, resulting in sharply reduced magnetic performance.

Key Processing Rules

Annealed HyMu 80 bars can be directly processed and used; cold-drawn bars or workpieces with large processing deformation must undergo final annealing treatment to restore standard magnetic properties.

Professional Final Annealing Process (Core Process for Optimal Magnetic Performance)

Heat treatment is the decisive factor determining HyMu 80*s service performance, with extremely strict process requirements:
  • Heating Temperature: 1121∼C 每 1177∼C
  • Holding Time: 2 每 4 hours
  • Atmosphere Requirement: Must use dry pure hydrogen with dew point ˉ -40∼C; vacuum annealing delivers inferior magnetic performance and is not recommended for high-precision applications
  • First-stage Cooling: Furnace cool naturally to 593∼C
  • Second-stage Controlled Cooling: Strictly control cooling rate at 194∼C 每 334∼C per hour during cooling from 593∼C to 371∼C

Critical Anti-Pollution Reminder

HyMu 80 high-nickel alloy is extremely sensitive to furnace atmosphere contamination. Sulfur, oxygen and carbon impurities in the annealing environment will cause irreversible damage to the magnetic domain structure, leading to permanent failure of magnetic permeability and hysteresis performance. All annealing processes must be completed in a pure oxygen-free and sulfur-free atmosphere.

Sample Testing Suggestion
